Food Quality & Paleo Challenge Prep

So you may have noticed the blog has been quiet recently.  We have been busy gearing up for the Paleo Challenge that will be starting this January.  In the meantime here are a few informative reads for you to chew on as we head into the new year.

Food Quality

Think all foods are created equal? Think again.  Tomatoes, salmon and beef are all paleo but not all forms are safe.  Consider the source and the treatment of the foods you take into your body. The 7 Foods Experts Wont Eat

Organic does not have to mean expensive.  A local CSA is a great way to get local, in season organic foods delivered to your door step.  I use Farm Fresh to You and am very impressed by the quality and service.  If you prefer to shop for your fruit and vegetables it is possible to be frugal and organic.

It would be super helpful if you took some time this holiday season to spend some time reading one of the many awesome and informative books on the subject of fuel (nutrition).  The Whole 9 has put together an awesome list of reading & viewing materials newbies and foodies alike.  Your favorite not listed here? 2. Dana, I loved the 14 foods that the experts won't eat info. It highlights all the reasons we need to be aware of what we put in our mouths. Some of them would be like Jason coaching CrossFit but wouldn't do it himself. He couldn't live with that mentality and I wonder how some farmers live knowing that they are poisoning America. But at least we have a choice!

  3. And for an informative yet humorous intro to eating Paleo, don't forget the Paleo in a Nutshell videos (part 1 is Food, part 2 is Exercise, and part 3 is "sunshine" :)

  5. Watched the documentary Fat Head on Netflix last night. It was really good. I liked the webpage on "Why grains are bad", I never knew about that insulin spike they cause. Scary/Motivational stuff to help me stay away from rice and bread. Thanks for the info and keep up the great work!
